Accidentally Swiped Away an Android Notification? Here's How to Find It Again
You see an important notification on your phone. Before reading it, you accidentally swipe it away. Now you cannot remember which application sent it.
On supported Android phones, Notification history may help.
Find Notification history
Open Settings and select Notifications. Look for Notification history. The exact location depends on your phone manufacturer and Android version. If the feature is available, enable it.
Google notes that some Android devices do not provide notification history, so the option may be missing from your phone.
What can it recover?
Notification history can help you review recently dismissed notifications and other supported notification activity. This is useful when you accidentally remove a reminder, message alert, or application notification.
It does not guarantee recovery of every notification that has ever appeared on your phone.
What if history was turned off?
If the feature was disabled when you dismissed the notification, do not assume that enabling it afterward will recover the missing alert. Open the application that sent the notification and look for the original message or event.
Consider your privacy
Notification history can preserve information that would otherwise disappear from the notification panel. If other people have access to your unlocked phone, consider whether you want this feature enabled.
The bottom line
Notification history is a small Android feature that can save you from hunting through multiple applications after accidentally dismissing an alert.
